Book Name Reveal & Psalm 91:1-2

Today is the day.

Book Name Reveal Day!

Because a good name is a good thing!

But first, let’s talk about those verses. Psalm 91: 1-2 brings us such promise and hope in our life. When we “dwell in the shelter of the Most High” then “we will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.” You might be asking yourself what does it mean to dwell in the shelter and what does it mean to abide in the shadow? I know I did.

Let’s start with “dwelling”. The word dwell means to remain, to live or to exist in a place. It takes on the idea of making a place your residence and staying there. When I think about dwelling in the shelter of the Most High–I think of choosing to take my thoughts, feelings, my purpose, my very being and living in the shelter(or protection) of the Most High(God). Then I am able to abide in the shadow of the Almighty. “Abide” means to stop, remain and lodge. This abiding is not a temporary thing–we are not visitors–we have family status as abiders in the shadow of the Almighty. We have permanent residence with the promise of protection, life, inner peace, and comfort from the Almighty.

This verse is the Chapter verse for Chapter 12–An Unknown Future in the book I have written. I am not going to share from that chapter right now, but I will share that I have had to learn to trust in the protection of the Most High as a child of God and accept his gifts of protection, life, inner peace and comfort that only the Almighty God can give to me. Can there be anything better than knowing that the Almighty is so involved in our lives that He brings us these gifts as we go through trials, celebrate victories, and achieve milestones?

We trust in the One who is the Almighty, the Most High, our refuge, and our fortress. There isn’t anything we go through that He doesn’t cover with His very presence in these forms. That’s worth stopping and meditating on!

Ponder that this week and research those verses a little more on your own because you never know what new nugget of wisdom you might gain for your exact situation.

Now let’s move on to the name of the book.

Let me give you a little history of how the name of the book came to be.

We watch Blacklist. The main character, Reddington, is not a nice guy, but sometimes he shows a soft side in between his bad antics. (Note: I am not promoting this show, just explaining how the name came about.) In Season 6, Reddington is about to be executed for treason. A priest goes to visit him to give him his last rites. Reddington tells the priest that he wishes just for once the clergy would shoot straight with him and tell him like it really is. He expresses his desire for the priest to just say that it sucks that he is about to die.

That thought struck a cord in my brain, and sometime in the middle of the night I got up and went into our family room. I rewatched the scene, and wrote down what I thought the name of the book should be. When Ben got up the next day, I told him what I wrote down. He laughed, and said that the title pretty much summed up what we had experienced.

While I am not “clergy”–I hope you are okay with me shooting straight about what I have experienced.

So without further ado . . .

Here are the Front and Back covers of my book.

P.S. Be on the lookout in the very near future—we are getting ready to let you Pre-Order Books in time for Christmas!
