You are a Saint

It has now been slightly over 6 months since Julie went to be with the Lord for eternity. I had told you (her followers on Godisup2something.com) that I would continue to blog, but I haven’t blogged in several months. I do plan to continue to blog occasionally, but I also recognize that she had a following here that liked her way of speaking the truth and I do not have the same way with words that she does. There is a part of me that wants to continue to blog, but there is also a part of me that wants to preserve this site for what God created through Julie. I will try to find a balance.

I am a Saint?

I don’t know about you, but I often do not feel like a saint. When we think of saints, we think of those in church history that are especially close to God and are near perfect representatives of his. However, the Apostle Paul opened his writing to the church in Corinth by calling his readers “saints”. Now, the way we often think of it, the Christians in Corinth were anything but saints. The rest of the letter to the Corinthians was about how they should live up to the title. But the basic truth is that the Christians were in fact saints in every sense of the word — not because of what they did or didn’t do, but because God made them saints the moment they trusted in Jesus Christ as their Savior.

Maybe you have sin in your life that you have been trying to get rid of, but you keep going back to it. I want to tell you that if you have placed your faith in Christ, you are already a saint. You have the power within you (Christ) to live like the saint that you already are. You cannot live like a saint in your own power, but you can live like the saint you are in the same way you became a saint — walking in Christ by faith. Take your eyes off of your sins and keep your eyes on Jesus Christ and allow Him to walk you through life and you will live like the saint you already are.

  1. Love this Ben. Thank you for this truth. You and Julie were definitely different with different gifts but I enjoy hearing your take on the same truth. Always enlightening and encouraging.

  2. So sweet to see her name come across in my list of emails. Yes, it so so good to hear from you so whenever God lays something on your heart, feel free to share it here or let us know if you ever decide to create a different blog.
