Days 1, 2, and 3 of the Alabama Trip

We are missing a few from the group (sorry ladies) we realized we didn’t take a picture till after they left.

We made it to Birmingham on Thursday and have spent the most precious time with our good friends Rex and Diane Wadsworth. We have known them since our days in Fort Worth, Texas. We guessed we’ve been friends for almost 22 years. We just adored spending time with them and talking over hot coffee. Diane spoiled us with delicious and healthy meals. (Thanks friend for all the effort to make sure I could eat the food.) We even got to slip away for a little antique shopping on this visit which brought much laughter and joy. We each made a few tiny purchases for decor in our homes that will serve as a reminder of our time together. Thank you Jesus for treasured friendships!

Friday night brought the sweetest time of fellowship with a precious group of ladies from the Church of the Highlands in Birmingham. We met at JoJo’s house with Tiffany, her co-leader and I was blessed to join them for a delicious meal from Taco Mama’s, and they gifted me with lovely flowers and a gift bag. This ladies’ group is using “Trusting God When Life Gives you Crap” as their Bible Study and we were able to sit around the family room and talk face to face about the story of how God has been at work in my life.

These ladies are sincerely doing an awesome job of encouraging one another as sisters in Christ. They care for the ladies in their group and I saw this in action—it was evident they were being the hands and feet of Jesus for each other.

As we ended our evening with a Q & A about “Trusting God”, they asked if they could lay hands on me and pray for healing for my body. It is always so humbling to have prayers being lifted to the ears of God on your behalf. These ladies made me feel like one of their own and I will treasure this night.

Saturday morning we said goodbye to Rex and Diane and Birmingham and drove to Camden, AL. We are visiting today with Ben’s family and enjoying catching up with one another. It’s been a long year without seeing his mom and dad and we are excited to be able to spend time with them and the extended family.

Tomorrow I will be speaking at Pine Hill United Methodist at 2:00 pm. I’m looking forward to sharing the story of trusting our Lord and Savior through this journey with ovarian cancer. It never gets old talking about His goodness!

Please continue to pray for His words to be spoken.

Thank you for taking the time to sit and talk with our group. It truly was a special time. We will continue to lift up prayers to God’s ears asking Him for healing of your body!
