10 Verses to Begin Your Day Focused on God

There are very few things in life that bring me as much peace as the stillness of the morning and meeting Jesus in the scriptures while drinking a hot cup of coffee with birds chirping in the background.

This time is sacred. It truly is the way I love to begin my day.

However, it doesn’t always happen this way and I still have to figure out how to find time to get focused on a Godly mindset instead of the chaos of life.

Sometimes our mornings begin with a phone call from Ben’s job with an emergency on the end of the line, other days my body is not functioning as it should and I begin my day sick to my stomach, you just never know.

So on a day like this morning, after coffee with my hubby, I am getting to treasure the beauty of the peace and stillness of the morning.

My little birdie friends are outside giving “Amens” with their chirps!

I want to share a few scriptures that help me get my mind focused on God and a fresh start to each new day.

Here are 10 verses to get your day started:

Psalm 118:24(ESV) This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Romans 15:13 (ESV) May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

Lamentations 3:22-24(ESV) The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.”

Psalm 143:8(NIV) Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.

Psalm 42:8(NLT) But each day the LORD pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs, praying to God who gives me life.

James1:5 (NLT) If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.

Isaiah 40:28-31(NLT) “Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion.”

Proverbs 18:10(NLT) The name of the LORD is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe.

Romans 12:1-2 (ESV) I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Philippians 4:19 (ESV) And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

These verses give us nourishment for the day. They take the focus off of the problems we might be facing and put the spotlight on the ONE who can take care of our problems.

They remind us of the beauty of a fresh start every single morning and of our ability to choose to trust in our sovereign Savior.

I don’t know about you, but that gives me both hope and peace in the day when I begin it focused on Him instead of all the junk going on around me.

Let me encourage you to either use these verses, or gather some of your own and take the time each morning to spend a few moments focusing on God and His strength, His power, His abilities, His Peace, His Wisdom–I could go on and on!
